Pros: Solid phone, vibrant display. Responsive out of the box. Upgraded from Sony Xperia Z3 Compact. Finger print scanner is a little simple, but works very well. Good battery life out of the box, at minimal use, I can go 6-7 days without charging, 2 days on active use. Not a lot of bloatware. If you are a superuser/XDA user, the community is a good size for customization and hackability. Neither pro/con: A little large for my liking, but still fits in my jean pocket. Cons: Pre-installed software leaves a little to be desired. Would like more customization capabilities. There is also a notification LED near the speaker panel that is disabled unless you root the phone, which I wish could be turned on. Uses a screen notification instead of the LED, which I liked.

Overall, this phone has some impressive features; however, the most basic function - the call volume is terrible. I tried everything; however, individuals on the other side can't hear me properly unless I hold the phone right next to my lips. Secondly, I have hard time hearing them as well. I never had this type of problem with several models of Samsung phones that I have owned in the past. This was my first purchase from Motorola - NEVER AGAIN. There are hundreds of complaints on Google talking about this volume issues with Moto G5 Plus. ADVICE - Don't buy this phone.

Great phone for the price. The only problem I had with it was trying to get the Android OS updates. It would show the downloading dialog but stayed at 0% downloaded. It would remain this way until I re-initiated the download. Since this is automatic process, to do this I had to continually pause the download by turning off WiFi, then on again or on and off with cellular data. This caused the download to go into pause mode momentarily, then resume. After a couple times, it would actually start receiving data and complete. I don't know if this was a problem with the Motorola Server or the phone. My wife bought a brand new Moto G5 Plus, Fine Gold color and it had no issue with this at all. The good news is I was able to get the phone fully updated and even on a complete reset, the updates were already installed to the latest updates of Nugat 7.0. The phone's been working perfectly since. Hope this helps anyone with the same issue.Read full review

It's my first smartphone so I don't have a lot of experience to compare it to, but it's very useful and works well. The "Device Help" has easy-to-use instructions. I like the motion-activated options, like "chop" it twice to turn on the flashlight. Shortly after I got it, I saw that someone whose judgement I respect, has the same phone! I wish it was a little smaller in my hand, but, I think it is standard phone size, and the tradeoff is that more "screen real estate" is helpful I guess.

The instruction booklet is sorely lacking in specifics. Like the option for dual-SIM functionality is ONLY available in European models; not in the U.S. The increased onboard memory allows for excellent speeds and with the installation of a 128G memory module, storage is not a problem. One hiccup, which could just be the service, is that mail cannot be deleted in bulk; it's one by one. Another is the indexing of images. Like Windows 10, it indexes by date and does not offer other methods as most people index by folders. Given how much phones go for today, it may not be the "latest-and-greatest", but, for the price, you can't beat it!

I swapped from LG due to my battery giving out. This was definitely set up differently but after a learning curve, it's pretty good! Can't customize as much as you are used to with Android, but it's not a deal breaker! I do wish there was a way to get rid of the Google page on the home screen, but you have to download a different launcher for that, so be mindful. Also note that there are no LED notifications for this device, like with most other devices on market. This is personally quite irksome for me, since I like to be able to glance and tell if I have any activity, instead of waking my phone up, but it's not the end of the world for me.

I've only had this for about 2 weeks. Being a senior I find this is much easier to navigate that my previous LG cell without the help of my granddaughters. The battery life is average, needing to be recharged every few days even without use. It's a good size and fits comfortably in my hand. The 5.2 size screen is easy to read and the keyboard is a good size.

I'm enjoying the phone a lot and feel very, very satisfied with the purchase. It has excellent battery life The internal antenna picks up Wi-Fi well with no unexpected disconnects Sound quality is OK, more than adequate for calls but just OK for music The camera is also OK, I have not spent much time with the camera to provide a better review Although I could add storage space this phone came with more than enough to meet my needs.

It is the BEST phone I have ever had! The description was perfectly accurate . - Long battery life. I can use the phone all day, take pictures, use apps and games, and it lasts a day and a half that way without a charge. - Good, small enough size to type with one hand without having to stretch to reach all the letters :-) - THE BEST camera ever. Very clear selfie camera, no graininess at all. The front facing camera is the best camera I've ever used, and I've had a Lumix digital camera before. Pretty impressed with the micro shots it takes. - The video has a pause and resume button, which is nice when you want multiple shots in one video. I've attached some pictures that I've taken with the phone.

I like Motorola phones a lot. They offer good value for money. If you compare with other brands, you get a powerfull phone for less, but still a good phone. I had the Moto G (1st generation) for years, and it was time to upgrade because of internal memory space. Other than that, the phone was (and is) working great. The camera is good, the phone is fast, battery life is good. I use it a lot, so it usually lasts me a day, day and a 1/2. I believe you will not regreat the purchase, if you haven't never tried Motorola before.
