Received my Bad Ash Vacuum yesterday[1/16/16] in excellent condition due to a heavy outer carton with its regular[retail packaging] carton inside. On opening, all parts were inside the canister with the 3 extension wands packed in the carton corners. All you do is pop on the 4 casters, assemble the hose and aluminum nozzle plus wands if needed and go straight to work. It has plenty of suction and can be used for other small jobs beyond ash pickup with the brush and corner attachment tools which are also included. The motor is not overly noisy and is of a double insulated type like pro grade AC powered drills and saws that do not require a three wire plug. Emptying and filter replacement are all explained visually and verbally inside the instruction book included with English and French translations correctly done with no "entertaining synytax errors" found in many instructions these days. Strangely, there is no Spanish translated section in the instruction manual. Leading one to wonder if wood stoves nor vacuums are not marketed to that market segment..... Otherwise, a great small product for less than FIFTY BUCKS!!!!!Read full review

I like the overall build construction of the bad ash 3... it is solid and the parts are of good quality. .. however, after using the unit to clean out a full fireplace I soon realized this unit's shortcomings... The diameter of the hose is fairly small... it does fine for regular ash, but it quickly clogs if you have any chunks (like charcoaled wood or such)... I had to pull the hose apart several times to unblock and made a mess on the floor doing it... Also, once the canister on the unit gets to about 1/2 full the suction power starts to drop quickly... you have to empty the bucket to get it working properly again... So, don't get me wrong... the unit works well for smaller jobs... if you have a smaller fireplace or wood stove and you clean it daily you should be mostly happy with the unit... I personally wish I'd have bought the larger unit...Read full review

The Bad Ash 3 performed exactly as it was advertised. Used it to clean out my Franco Belge coal stove. I didn't have a lot of ashes but had a lot of fly ash. The fly ash is very fine and my regular vacuum usually spreads this fly ash all around my family room. It appears the bad ash 3 kept most of this ash in the canister. When I went to empty the canister there was not much in it. With that said it was very easy to empty. At this point I would strongly recommend the Bad Ash 3.

I bought the Bad Ash III as the dedicated vac to cleanup my pellet, charcoal, and gas grill. This was the perfect size vac to lug around the back patio and stored in the shed. Seems well built, will see if it's durable. So far have done only several cleanings and it has held up excellent. Suction is on par with this size motors and not annoyingly loud. The HEPA filter does well to filter down the fine charcoal dust. The hose has reenforce metal. Even though it is a bit short, the vacuum is light weight. I just pick up the whole vacuum when I need a bit more reach. Overall happy with this $30 shipped purchase.

This is a great product. Works exactly as advertised. Mr. H. says "I now can clean my wood fireplace effortlessly in minutes - with no fuss.". Pros: Lightweight, Quiet, Easily Emptied - and it will hold a few fires worth of ashes. Cons: One of the four wheels does fall off... but, I'll just have to gorilla glue it back on, not a deal breaker. Buy it, you won't be disappointed.

Much better suction over my one with filter bags. Did not empty yet but less dirt and mess with this one. Only used once but can tell I will like it... Great Price with free shipping and no more filter bags to replace.

I like the size but not able to judge the quality just yet. I do believe the motor is slightly undersized. It picks up ash but power is 'modest' at best. I did keep it for its convenience and I always have my 16G Monster shop Vac when more power is needed. I haven't needed to clean the unit yet but the HEPA filter seems sufficient, and there is NO noticeable dust/ash exiting. Thats more important to me.

I had been using a shop vac before and there was always dust. With this no more dust and the tool attachments make it easy to get to the tougher spots of my pellet stove. This thing is worth every penny!

Been wanting an ash vac for almost 10 years. But have been "making do" without. When this one went on sale, I decided to give it a try. GLAD I did! The wand and hose are aluminum, so it's impervious to warm ash. Others have mentioned the hose is a bit short. But not for us, it's just right. We have a Castille pellet stove insert and even with our off the floor hearth the end of the wand easily reaches all areas inside out stove. At the same time, there isn't a "wad" of extra hose always in the way. Now our Castille stays nice and clean because it's so easy clean! :-)

Sturdy steel canister, compact deign and light weight. It's economical price is compromised by the motor which is seriously underpowered. Don't expect to pick up anything other than ash or sawdust. Strongly suggest one purchase replacement filters.
