This is often compared to Terre 'd Hermes (A Legendary classic that everyone should experience at least once.) And I can see why.
That said, I prefer this more.
(Keep in mind, this is to my nose and on my skin. YMMV)
On opening, you get pink grapefruit and black pepper. And a lot of it. After a few minutes the citrus gives way to more peppery and smoky notes. And the final dry down is a wonderful balance of vetiver and cedar. Freshened up with citrus and given a dry feeling with pepper. And somewhere in there is a slight trace of sweetness that I can't pin down.
I'd describe Terre as dirty orange opening, with a sweet vetiver, cedar, and oakmoss dry down. And mild peppery notes throughout. By comparison, this feels dryer, darker, and less sweet.
Performance on this is very good. Longevity is 6-8 hours on my skin. The silage is a little more modest, you wouldn't smell this on someone from across the room. Perhaps that is a good thing, as this isn't as mass-appealing as many other blue frags on the market. This is a tad more polarizing, but with that comes a fragrance that feels darker, more unique, more alluring, and has more character.
This is backup bottle worthy! And of the 30+ fragrances in my collection, this is one of 2 that I keep a backup bottle of. If I didn't have as many options as I did, I would happily wear this as a signature fragrance.
