I view Dean Koontz as the superior Author of our time ! I have been fortunate enough to meet him a couple times. He is a tremendously down to earth, kind hearted man. He is caring and genuinely concerned about the things that are important in regards to the goodness that I think is in most of us. As anyone who has ever read his books can attest to. Mr. koontz gives one hope and the feeling of wellness through his books in a day when most people are focussed on the more hopeless side of life. As to why I have become a committed Dean Koontz book collector; Many years ago I went to a Fear Nothing book signing with my ex-wife. Everybody there for the book signing was alotted a total of six books to be signed, which added up to twleve between my ex-wife and myself. Which now is an unheard of amount, considering the amount of people who show up to one of Mr. Koontz's book signing. After about three hours waiting in line to get to the point where he was doing the signings I asked him how long he was going to be doing the signings ? ( the line still went way out the door of the Barnes and Nobel book store ) He replied to me 'Until the last person has had his books signed'. This was the first time he impressed me as being a very kind, caring man. My marriage with my wife ended. And during my seperation with her she was granted residence of my house for a brief period of time until the divorce was finalized. When I returned to my house after she vacated it, I found that she had taken all the signed books we had gotten together at the book signing, with the exception of a paperback copy of 'The Bad Place' which is one of my favorite books. Needless to say I was totally bummed. So I wrote to Mr Koontz telling this tale of loss regarding my signed books of his. And asked if he had any plans for another book signing in the near future. To my surprise he replied with a note in his own hand writing at the bottom of a form letter indicating he had no book signings planned at that time, but he sent me three signed book plates. Since then I have been fortunate enough to go to another of his book signings. Again he surpassed any expectation I had in the kindness and genuine down to earth demeaner of his. It is unbelievable that a man of his fame and success can still be able to relate to the commom man, and not be prententious and conceited. So now I have one true hobby, and that is to collect Dean koontz signed books. I have many of his 1st edition rare books, personally inscribed to me books books, advanced uncorrected proofs and other eunique items. Just as this book I am writing a review about. This is a Limited Edition book with slipcase and signed by both Dean Koontz and illustrator Phil Parks. # 251 of 450. What a Fantastic Purchase !!!!Read full review
