Had been on the fence for a few years about getting this bench top planer versus waiting until I had the space to get a floor sized model. I had a DeWalt 733 that was really starting to struggle. Realizing that I am several more years away from having more shop space, I decided to take the dive and get the DeWalt 735. All the positive reviews are right, I should have gotten this thing years ago. Pros: -Tons of power! Right out of the box I fed it an 8" wide piece of Sapele and it easily took off 1/8" without even bogging down the motor -Super efficient blower for chip extraction. Have some sort of collection hose ready because this thing can really spit some sawdust. -4-way carriage adjustment mechanism makes the cuts super accurate. -Works right out of the box -Included tool can make all necessary adjustments Cons: -Snipe is a real problem unless you attach infeed-outfeed tables or rollers. Tables are included on the 735x and are worth spending the extra few bucks. -Heavier than other bench top models. Not a huge deal unless you plan on lugging this thing around from jobsite to jobsite. -Blades cannot be resharpened. Unlike the much older 733 model, the updated 734 and 735 models have blades that index on the cutter-head by indexing pins. Because of this, the blades cannot be resharpened as it would alter the height of the blade. Replacement blades can be expensive, but many people upgrade to helical head models. I will probably do this in the future. If you are limited on money or space and are looking for a bench top planer, I would highy recommend the DeWalt 735 without reservation. Read full review

This planer should absolutely come with the "optional" infeed and outfeed tables. I was geting significant "snipe". Purchased the tables and leveled them and that took care of the sniping. Now it works great. Unfortunately it took me a few hundred feet of planing to figure this out.

Good planer, like the integral blower, short piece of duct and attach a bag, good to go. Makes a bunch of wase and the blower spreads it everywhere, so use some sort of collection system. Shop vac is not enough to keep up on wider boards. It does produce a very nice cut, even on the 96 cpm setting. We use ours everyday in our small commercial shop running hard/soft Maple, Oak, Poplar and Cherry with very good results. Recommend this unit.

I was using the blades supplied with the Dewalt planer. I was on the second blade side for a short time and was having feed and burning issues with very light cuts. These new carbides are like a steak knife vs a butter knife. Well worth it!!
