Worked great and saved a few bucks.
This was a long shot, but it worked. My Xerox 6180 stopped printing and gave the message, "fuser error." The diagnostic software linked to the computer said, "fuser error, please contact Xerox for factory service."
Looking at the photos of fusers available for purchase, I was able to locate and remove the fuser assembly from the 6180 and compare it to the available unites. The part number on my fuser did not match the part numbers for the replacement version. Yet, the fuser was advertised as being compatible with all Xerox 6180s.
So, I took a chance on the mismatched part numbers. Lo and behold, installation was dirt simple and the 6180 fired up right away and prints perfectly.
When this whole episode came up, I shopped around for a replacement printer. But now I'm glad I chose to repair the old one. Especially considering that I have around $300 worth of toner in the machine that would have been discarded. Given that a comparable new printer would have cost at least $300, I figure I saved around $500 with this purchase.
