Squire Standards are a great deal.
I don't think Squire is making the "Standard" series anymore. The Standards are better quality than the "Affinity". They are comparable to the current "Vibe" series. The main difference is that the Vibes have a glossy neck finish and the Standard are a more natural or satin finish. The Standards are great and If you can get them for around $200 go for it. Good instrument for the buck.
The instrument had already be set up and adjusted to play like an expensive one. Out of the box it was still in tune. I would say it's probably the exception and not the rule. It was used and that was the difference. They don't come from the factory set up like that. The first owner must have had that done. Glad they did. I'm very satisfied with it. Don't let the Squier on the headstock fool you.
For the price,, you simply can't beat this guitar, DO NOT compare this Vintage Modified Strat ti a Bullet, or an Affinity. The VM Strat is way above either of those units, for just a few dollars more,, sometimes, in my case, cheaper !!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Bought this guitar on a fluke. I didn't think that my bid would win. The strat arrived with new strings and ready to play. Paired it up with a Fender Frontman 10 watt amp. Plenty of pick up. Plenty loud.

I could gig with this guitar.
