I've owned my TAC-2 for two years and a half. Audio quality is great in my opinion, superior to run-of-the-mill gear. ADC is a Burr Brown PCM4202 and is transparent. DAC is an AKM AK4396 and sounds clean but not sterile. It's good for music enjoyment. Pre-amps have low self-noise and enough gain for dynamic mics. Latency is low on my Mid 2011 21.5" iMac. Ableton Live 9.7.4 shows 1.33 ms overall latency at 96KHz on 64 samples. Even on 256 samples, it's usable. Build quality is good and fit and finish is also good for being Made in China. My unit still looks new except for the chrome Thunderbolt sticker which looks beat-up. MixEfx software is limited but useable. Built-in monitoring FX sound very good. Headphone amp is only 20mW per channel at 32 ohms but is loud enough. All in all, my first experience with Zoom has been great and I recommend this unit for transparent, quiet recordings. God bless you.Read full review

ZOOM TAC-2 was the cheapest Thunderbolt audio interface at the time of my purchases. I understand that ZOOM is fairly new to the audio interface market however this product just does not work properly. It constantly stops working and I have to unplug and wait for hours before it starts to work again.

Even though it's only 2-track in and out, this interface is rock-solid and sounds great!
