Reliable and durable.
This line of Craftsman ratchets is excellent quality and the mechanism is reliable. I have a set I received new in the 90's. They have taken a lot of overloading abuse without failure. I bought this to add to my field tool kit for work. The thumb-wheel on the back is convenient for starting fasteners. If you like a quick release/lock button for sockets this line of ratchets does not have that. This does not have any external plastic parts.

Great ratchet
These older Craftsman thumbwheel ratchets are my favorite. They're very sturdy, easy to use and the thumbwheel is very handy.
