It was a brand new spring apparatus and it works great. It would have been nice to include instructions, but I got those off the internet.

Our old Kirby had been without this part for years. The handle had not stood up in years. Although many parts were replaced over the years, the pivot spring was ignored. Now with the new one in out Kirby is the Kirby it is totally meant to be. This part has made a world of difference.

This part is not right for the G3. I was able to disassemble it and install the spring and spring retainer on my G3 pivot spring assembly, but the rest of it went in the trash. The G3 uses different linkage to the transmission, a different hold mechanism, and a different handle stop. The spring feels a little too strong for my G3, and it's always trying to spring back up.
