I have tried many blu-ray players and find this one of the best. It is a older model, but the image and upgrading are pretty much state of the art even today, and it is increasingly hard to find units that are full size. Two things bother me: it does not seem to have a 'resume' feature so, when the machine is turned off, it does not locate its former position on the disc, which is inconvenient. Also, the remote control is rather poorly designed, in that the directional arrows are very small and are surrounded by larger buttons like 'home' and 'netflix' which take one out of the disc mode. It is all too easy to press those buttons, making it time consuming to go back and, once again, finding your location on the disc. But,otherwise it is a great player and it is good value now that prices have dropped.Read full review

it needs to be able to play on demand movies from various on demand channels you can get online. From the two that I use most often, it will not load and play any movies. Some of these channels require an adobe flash program which you cannot down load to this unit. It will play Youtube okay but will not play Dove, ESPN3 or Pureflix. I am a little bit disappointed. DVD and ease of use works great.

Nice overall.... good network capabilities, of course good for Netflix, Amazon Prime and others, but also nice to watch videos, music and view slides from a home computer when the unit is connected to your local network. There is however no way to reorder your files and the default is alphabetical, which sucks if your looking for something fast. The BluRay quality is very good. However you need to manually set the BDT-230 up for 24P and bitstream audio. The only issue I've had is it tends to get confused and crash if you set the the unit for "fast startup" I leave that off and it only takes 15 seconds to turn on anyway so what's the rush. Better than having to unplug it when it freezes. WiFi is built in, and works great, but I prefer an ethernet connection. The panasonic iPhone remote control app doesn't work for this one, it works well on the 220.Read full review
I am very happy with how easy it is to use. Just like all Panasonics very reliable and good quality product. Works great with my panasonic TV with the Vera link system. All in all I would give it a A+ rating.

I own 2 older Panasonic Blu Rays, both work great, and was the main reason for this purchase. Mine arrived with version 1.54 firmware, quite old. Was easy to upgrade right from the unit. Now has version 1.73. Loads disks quickly, and plays with no issues. Panasonic makes the best Blu Ray players in my opinion.

There are many 3D Blu-Ray players for sale these days. I would think most are very good. I was not interested in the high tech features that most have them have, maybe some day they may be useful. The key feature I was looking for was to play movies, pictures from a USB device. That's what most of these devices can do. The reason I selected this particular device (after shopping around) is that this player also has a SD card slot, so with a USB part and a SD card slot . I'm all set
I am not able to comment on apps or WiFi functions, however any type of disc you play looks and/or sounds perfect!... For the price I paid it's hard to beat:-)

For an 8 year old (2013) model it's been working just like a brand new one. No firmware updates yet, very impressive. I have played 10 blu-rays flawlessly. A very good quality product.

This poor seller was the victim of the U.S. Postal service. The first unit he sent arrive 'broken' with a lot of damage to the packaging and a broken faceplate. The seller graciously sent a 2nd unit which the post office also managed to damage. He offered a refund but I was able to combine parts from the two units and make one good one. The DVD players both worked great but the first one would only work if you held the front cover in place. The 2nd one worked right off the bat but had a broken retainer tab on the front and a dent in the top. Between the two I have one that works and a whole spare that works if you hold the front on. As far as the functionality of these units: I only bought it for one reason... I shoot 3D video... a LOT of it... and I make 3D DVDs... a lot of them, so I ONLY wanted this unit to play the discs. I have no interest in any of the other features this player offers. I don't stream, I don't use it with netflicks, etc. I use it to watch 3D DVDs period and it works great for that.Read full review
