Nana follows the lives of two young women both named Nana. That's the only place where similarities lie. Their story is one of rags to riches, parties, love, sex, angst, and real-life issues that aren't smoothed over and glamorized; each decision the characters make has a real and true consequence. Ai Yazawa has the ability to write with heart and honesty and to draw with feeling and such strong detail that I wonder how long it took her to create just one frame. The depth of both the art and the characters is overwhelming. I never know what to expect from one book to the next. Will Nana O.'s band become number one? Will "Hachi" ever decide if stability is more important than true love?

**This is not a comic book for children. I strongly suggest older teens and up with most of this manga.
