70s Manga.
I discovered this piece of of popular culture from an old school video store in the 80 s. I absolutely loved the character. At 9 years old I practically wanted to be Captain Harlock. I am absolutely thrilled 😁 to find all the old cartoons gathered together on 📀 DVD. Captain Harlock - Still Great and Better Than Ever!
Although the animation may, arguably, be criticized for its early foibles, this series still holds up very well and has greater depth in the story line, character development, and overall message than anything being produced in Japan or elsewhere today. The series had a very positive theme in its defense of the underdog and condemnation of corporate greed, misuse of power, and anti-human corruption.
