The best way to run three phase equipment
The phase converter is top quality and works flawless. I watched a couple videos of the American Rotary product and they all commented on how great the instuction sheet was. Unfortunately they only sent me a card with a diagram. Lucky I have some knowledge of wiring including three phase, so I had no trouble with set up. Please continue to send the instruction sheets so others might have less difficulty with setup. The unit runs quiet and looks great. Gotta have it if you like old machines!
Great product. I got the 10hp in case (more like when) I get some more old machines that are 3-phase. Also, I like the plug and play aspect versus a VFD. My logic was pay more for a good converter, pay less when I buy old machines (or swap out older machines) with easier hookup. You will have some torque variations on some machines if you use a VFD. Also some machines have multiple motors which means multiple VFDs, do your research. The motor is quiet, well quiet to the point that a motor can be. Let me put it this way, my mill, and lathe, are much louder than the motor. It wont bother you (low db). I did as the instructions said and hired a licensed electrician, best money I spent. I believe its a perfect item for a hobbyist machinist. In a small garage I doubt I will have anything anywhere near 10hp. More specifically, I wont have 10hp of motors running at the same time.
