Not your average polymer stock
I bought this Magpul stock right after they were released. I had looked at the overmolded stocks from another brand as well as some fancier laminated wood stocks. I figured this would be a decent stock because Magpul generally makes good quality gear. I was actually kind of taken aback by how good this thing really is. It is very well built, strong, sturdy, and a good bit heavier than the OEM. It takes about 2 minutes to install due to only using the one takedown screw in the bottom. If you're concerned about the one screw holding the unit, have no worries. The stock fits like a glove and feels as secure as any. Has a great set of features and some of them unique. First of all, there are multiple different sling attachment points. You can use the loops, swivels, or M-LoK attachments. Yes, it is equipped with Magpuls "M-LoK" slots up front. So any M-LoK compatible accessory from them or other brands will work. It also has a fully adjustable length of pull, and adjustable comb height if you choose to buy the optional comb pieces...and they aren't really expensive. It has two features that I found unique and very nice. Right in the very front of the stock they have a dimple. So all you have to do is drill the dimple out for your sling or bipod stud. Which is exactly what I did. I added my bipod and it is very sturdy. The other feature is this stock will work with the OEM and aftermarket bull barrels. So if you buy this stock and decide you want to upgrade barrels at a later date, you won't have to buy a new stock to fit it. Very nice touch. The inner portion of the barrel channel has an insert that is reversible. So depending on which barrel size you need, you just pop the thing out and flip it over. I tried to think of everything to say that someone might find useful. All in all I'm very happy with my purchase and I feel for the quality of the piece, price, and feature set offered, anyone would be really hard pressed to find anything that is comparable.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Custom fit without a custom price.
I bought my X22 immediately after I bought a 10/22 Target Model. I'm a little picky about LOP and cheek rise so the X22 makes perfect sense. I usually prefer open sights but I sometimes run a scope on rtz mounts for distance events. The interchangeable cheek riser takes less than a minute to change out for a perfect weld when I use a scope. It's greatly enhance my accuracy. I only wish MagPul made one for my Savage A22 Magnum.

Best overall all around out there in my opinion.
I build several 10/22 rifles per year at least. I've utilized basically all of the replacement stocks out there for different people and uses. This Magpul Hunter X-22 is the best all around by far in my opinion. Its heavier than most such as the Hogue overmolded, but not much. Its solid, it has multiple barrel channels, free floats, a true drop in, and priced very fair for what you get. Plus its made in USA! It does NOT come with a new receiver screw tho! Pretty good.
Overall it's a good rifle stock. Without the action installed, there is some flex. Once the receiver is installed it's solid. I like it but, if you start adding M-LOK pieces and swivel sling sockets, it gets really expensive. No way to mount a sling and bipod without the $22 bipod adapter. Tried it with both standard taper and .920 heavy barrels. Both fit perfectly. Includes spacers for length of pull adjustment but cheek riser inserts are not included. Great for iron sights, I will need a low cheek riser for my scope. Another added expense. To get it the way I want it I'll have close to $200 in it.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Like usual magpul style, they exceeded my expectations. The Magpul hunter 22 is a sweet, tough, light weight, feels good in the hands stock. I have had 2 other different stocks for my ruger 10/22 and finally purchased the hunter 22. Hands down my favorite fit and feel.
