These Williams brass trains are very reliable and simple to operate. We collect, buy, and sell a LOT of trains, in excess of 1000 per year and every set is tested. What I can tell you is that these Williams trains are runners, you put them on the track and they run, we do not have problems with them. The 1 train in the last 12 months that did have a problem was a simple pinched wire in a tender, that is it. For parts, the only challenge you will face is traction tires, those can be a challenge to find but they are available, you just have to look! The paint work is superb on these Korean brass trains, every bit as good as their competitors, I do agree that these lack the detail of 3rd rail brass but look at the price difference, good Williams brass trains are 1/3 the price of 3rd rail/sunset and much less than Weaver 30-40% less. This is like saying why can't a Corvette compete with a 911? Well, its 40% less in price thats why, why can't a Camaro or Mustang compete with a BMW M3? Right, those cars are 50% less thats why. I have many more problems with my MTH Protosound and Lionel TMCC trains than the Williams trains, its not even close. The MTH's and Lionels are easily repaired but it ain't cheap! So, if you like the look and feel of brass these are wonderful trains. Read full review
