Some GOOD, some BAD, mostly GOOD.
You really can't beat the price on these aftermarket items. The icemaker itself is of good quality and fit as expected. Let's face it, the majority of the components used in this assembly are most likely from the same manufacturers that supply them to Whirlpool. If not, there isn't much that can be changed. However, with that being said, I would like to point out that the wire harness that comes with the unit is two inches too short to fit on the unit I purchased it for. To make matters worse, that was the main reason I ordered this kit as a complete replacement since it cost less than just the harness from the name brand supplier. So I had to splice the thermal link into the old harness to make it work. After doing so, the unit cycled and filled. If your thermal link isn't bad, there is no reason to replace it. Just use the original. The unit has been working fine for a few weeks and I do not foresee any problems arising from it being an "aftermarket" item. As an appliance service technician, this is not the first time I have used these replacements. I have never had a failure or recall due to choosing these in order to save the client money. FSP prices are so high and client funds are tight. Without these lower cost parts there is a very good chance I would never get the job. I am thankful, and my clients are thankful too as I give them the option to choose.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
