The JJ 5751 can be used in most 12AX7 circuits to achieve more headroom. It has a lower gain than the standard 12AX7. Good to rope the gain of a high gain amplifier. This is a similar tube to the JJ 12AX7 which is the standard for new production 12AX7s.

5751 tubes IN Electronics
I was amazed when I plugged these in my amp. I had been using GE Black plates which are the cream of the crop and didn't expect these to sound as well as they do. The first few hours they were strident and just sounded out of time if that makes sense. Within 12 hours of running time, they became magical in my system. The sound is smooth and extended and the highs are perfect to my ear and capturing little nuances in the music that were missing before. I also required less volume but got louder sound than with my GE' s which I suspect were pretty used up. I recommend these to anyone with an amp that uses 5751 tubes. The price is right and thevsound quality is very pleasing. Please note, these tubes are being used with the 16 other tubes in my amp. The have unleashed the best in my ampRead full review

Very listenable
I've had only limited experience with tubes. I bought these to replace tubes in a used stereo amplifier, attracted by their "low gain" description. The amp immediately sounded better than it did with the old tubes. I played them for short intervals initially, and then longer. Overall the sound was nicely balanced, with laid-back treble tones (yay) and nice mid tones. I found myself digging into my collection for more recordings to play, both CDs and LPs, which is a mark of success. After about 40 to 50 hours, I was surprised to start hearing more detail than I remember in some recordings. I'm giving the tube amp a rest during a current heat wave, and have ordered a pair of NOS tubes made by an old US manufacturer to broaden my experience. I'm not sure how much difference "low gain" makes. I've given four stars because I still have training wheels on and am developing sensibilities around tube sound. I am happy with them and consider them a good value.Read full review

Just as promised!
It performed just as promised in my high gain Peavey Valveking amp. It has really smoothed out the gain signal without any noticeable reduction in the clean channel. I have to add that Only Glass rocks.

Like all JJ tubes it is of great quality and sounds good. Need to get the gain in your JCM 800 or 900 a little more under control? this is the ticket. Just a half step down from a 12AX7. A great tube.

Sounds great in a dsl40c
Started upgrading my 40c. First put in a new v30 speaker, then some put new JJ el34s in. Changed all the preamp tubes with Tung sol ax7s. C19 mod and c4 mod. Everything sounded great except the red channel was still to much fizz. Changed the v2 with the jj5751 and it put the red overdrive channels 1 and 2 right where they need to be. Still plenty on gain for hard rock and metal. Maybe not enough for the hardcore drop d newer metal but it’s plenty for sabbath and similar bands.
