This is a First Gear 1/34 scale diecast truck model of a 1958 GMC truck with a box van body. The truck is a GMC 300 which was a Class 4 medium duty truck of 12,000 to 16,000 GVWR. These trucks came standard with a 270 cu in six cylinder engine of 140 HP or optional 336 cu in Pontiac V8 with 200 HP. The 1958 GMC had the "Blue Chip" cab design of 1955-59. The model truck comes with disc wheels and tires with the Firestone logo. The truck and box van are marked with graphics for NAPA auto parts stores. This van body is much nicer than many of the other First Gear 1/34 box van trucks, because this box van has the rear open with a finely detailed chain curtain to contain the load. The inside of the box van is stacked with scale miniature cardboard boxes simulating a load of cargo. The model comes with two loose cardboard boxes to display alongside the model truck and scale rearview mirrors. This model is to the usual high standards for First Gear with the extra bonus of a nicely detailed box van. This First Gear model has markings for NAPA. National Automotive Parts Association (NAPA) was founded in 1925 as a cooperative of independently owned auto parts stores, and still exists today with over 6,000 auto parts stores. This First Gear 1958 GMC truck model was apparently sold at NAPA stores as a promotional item and many examples are offered for sale on ebay.Read full review
