Sometimes a 3-ft MIDI cable leaves a lot of excess wire to clutter up your rig. The 12-inch length is perfect for tying together adjacent racked modules and effects. Actual length of these particular cables is closer to 14" from tip to tip (I also have an older 1-ft cable that is about 13"). The quality is typical Hosa, i.e., well-made, with molded ends that provide some strain relief as well. Cable itself is about 1/4" dia., and it is a full 5-conductors. As usual, the metal shell on each connector is not connected to anything. If Hosa or someone else made an 18" or 24" cable, MIDI connections that span three or four rack spaces could also be neater, but you can use two of these with a barrel splice. This length is hard to find, and the price was definitely right, so I bought a couple.
