Clive Staples Lewis also authored the Chronicles of Narnia series, the first book series I read as a child of six years old. Since then, I've been a fan of his work and only later as an adult did I learn that Mr. Lewis was a Christian as well. Which makes sense since Aslan (in the Narnia) series is a type of Christ. But I digress. THIS book, a collection of letters between (senior) demon Screwtape and his floundering, neophyte demon nephew, Wormwood, gives the serious Christian much food for thought, insight, and reflection with regard to the various ways we are tempted, both from within as well as without, and how our human frailty can so easily be used against us. This is an excellent read, one that I'm sure that I will read over and over again throughout the rest of my time in this life, in fact.Read full review

I actually listened to this book on tape narrated by John Cleese and after I was done listening to it I had to buy the book! C.S. Lewis does a great job of playing devils advocate (literally) in The Screwtape Letters. The book is a set of letters from "uncle" screwtape, an experienced demon to this nephew wormwood, a demon who's just learning. Screwtape teachers wormwood the finer points of temptation and touches on subjects and arguments that are still quite relevant today. This is one of C.S. Lewis' funniest books and I found myself laughing out loud at some parts, as well as having a couple good proverbial slaps in the face as I realized what screwtape was talking about was what I was doing-and thought it was O.K. Here's a quote from the book: "When they are meant to pray for courage, let them really be trying to FEEL brave. When they say they are praying for forgiveness, let them be trying to FEEL forgiven. Teach them to estimate the value of each prayer by their success in producing the desired feelings, and NEVER let them suspect how much success or failure of that kind depends on whether they are well or ill, fresh or tired, at the moment." No matter what your age or walk of life everyone can take something away from the screwtape letters.Read full review
One of the most prolific Christian authors of modern times. This book makes you think about the little things that can add up and push you farther from God. It reminds you that the closer you get to God, the hrder the enemy works to try to fool you and battle you to push you away once again. C.S. Lewis has given us a great tool to help on our journey.
I bought this knowing that C.S. Lewis is a great author. His childrens books are awsome, and I am sure that his adult books will be amazing. I have'nt read this yet, but, considering what I have read in the listing this will be a awesome book to read, my son wants to read it when I am done with it. I want to thank this amazing author.
This book is Wooten from the perspective of a senior demon to his nephew giving advice on how to sway humans in their direction without us realizing what's actually happening. Very insightful and really opens your eyes to things that happen every day. A wonderful book!
