I needed an HBA for my freeNAS box. I was having trouble with my SATA expansion card. I found this card at a great price I did have to update the BIOS it was pretty easy. Perfect for running unraid. No need to flash into IT mode, it's ready to go. Many other (Marvell) SATA cards can be flaky with unraid. This one is rock solid. Excellent value as this can run up to 8 drives.

Put it into my unRAID server and it worked like a champ. The only drawback is that it comes with a low-profile bracket and my server requires a full-height bracket. I was able to swap brackets from one of the cards that this replaced, so it wasn't an issue for me, but that could be an issue for some.
