For Color Aficionados, Perfectionists, Pixel Peepers, and Masochists
It's a very unforgiving camera; you've got to get as much right in-camera as possible. But once you see the results its capable of, it redeems itself over and over again. If you're after medium-format level color variance, distinctive rendering, insane sharpness, and a different way of working, the SD Quattro might be for you. If you don't mind a camera with "personality" and don't mind sometimes not getting the shot, the SD Quattro might be for you. If you need fast operation, huge dynamic range, animal left eye autofocus, and small lenses, look elsewhere.
Superbly sublime image quality subject to certain operating parameters.
Superbly sublime image quality if camera is used like a film camera with 100 film ISO.
Controls and operating menu are accessibly intuitive. Camera is built like a tank.
I've been photographing over 50 years with dozens of cameras and this is one of my all-time "faves" I'll keep until I depart.
Purchased my first Sigma(SD14) 17 years ago. Love the Foveon sensor. Went through other camera companies and Sigma cameras during these past years. Decided to go back to Sigma camera with this camera and stay with Sigma because of the Foveon sensor.
