Cons: Heavy, concern that cast iron and steel parts may rust at some point. A touch short for a full gallon ice block Pros: Heavy is good in this case as the unit is very stable. And it is easily moved by one person. Adjustable super-sharp blade makes ice how you want it: super fine crystals to larger shards Movement is smooth and easy - not hard on the arm at all Fast. Takes about 20 seconds to shave 6 oz of snow built to last. We bought this unit for a concession where no power is available. Jury will be out until the end of the summer but after unboxing and testing this unit is worth the price. The gallon block problem isn't really a problem, just need to be sure to slightly underfill the molds slightly - about a centimeter shy and this was due to expansion of the block as it froze.
