Control of lateral sagittal chromatic aberration is very good and IQ is high overall, especially in the corners where more expensive lenses are often weak. This is a particularly good lens for astrophotography. The trade off in price is horrific and complex (mustache) distortion. This means that simple barrel correction will not fix the problem and unless your RAW software supports a plugin it is impossible to correct. However, if you avoid photographing buildings (with straight lines) and seascapes (unless you put the horizon across the centre of the frame) the distortion is not really an issue. If you are shooting in natural landscapes without straight horizons, distortion becomes a non-issue. Lens construction seems solid. Infinity is not on the mark, but if it bothers you you can fix this using Youtube tutorials. Great fun and value for money.Read full review
Very sharp, although the distortion is a little heavy. Luckily I use DXO Photolab that corrects it pretty much perfectly. It transmits EXIF info and manual focus really isn't much of a problem, especially since it's an ultrawide. If you can afford/justify a Nikon UW lens, then definitely go for that. They are better in every way (I used to own a Nikon 17-35). If you only use an ultra wide lens occasionally, then this Samyang is a great choice.

Surprising little or no peripheral distortion, remarkable for a lens of this type. Very sharp and quite a good value for the price.

good lens but will need some practice to get used to. It is a drag as it is manual only. I should have spent some more money for a Nikon with automatic focus.
