Q6700 was put into my HP DC7800, replacing the current E6550. The Q6700 clocks at 2.660GHz, and the E6550 clocks at 2.331GHz, even with just the 300MHz increase the performance has increased dramatically, most noticeable in gaming and movie making applications. It has raised the windows meta score from 5.9 to 7.2, a close contender as the i7 3770K is just 7.8 The downside of this processor is a max TDP of 105W, this means they can get quite hot and I wouldn't recommend for an HTPC where cooling is limited. At approximately $50 a piece these are excellent bang for the buck, and suit current needs for older socket 775 boards
