it works
I was disappointed too find it has a good sized dent on the top in one corner. When I used it for the first time, it made a horrible, loud squealing, tone type sound the entire time the carousel turned. The problem was the very cheaply made plastic "glass tray support", with little plastic wheels that would not turn with the weight of the glass tray. Fortunately, I had an old GE microwave that had died but had the same type support. I replaced the one that came with the LG and the noise stopped. Other than that, it seems to be a good machine. Nice and roomy for big dishes!
This microwave is very different from any other that I have owned. 1- The clock only stays on for 5 minutes at a time. It goes off and you have to push any button to see the clock and time again. 2-This stainless steel microwave has a black panel with the setting on it. It make it very difficult to see the settings on it, since they don't light up. That in itself make it difficult to set, especially at night, even with an over head light on. LG is an excellent brand. So with these problems, you have to decide if this is the one to get. This is a great microwave oven loaded with features and technology that make it very easy to get right every time. Big size-lightweight construction
While this is a large size countertop microwave it lacks sturdiness. If you close the door to hard it slides backwards. The door is extremely lightweight. You cannot close the door quietly either-which is a problem with small kids sleeping in the house. The display clock turns off and you cannot see what time it is without touching a button. The buttons are not illuminated so you have to stand to the side so the overhead room light shines on the display buttons. On a positive note-it does heat up the food. LG 2.0 Cu. Ft. Counter-Top Microwave - Very good, but lacking one feature - a live Clock
This unit works well, and you don't need to read the manual, and many don't like to do that anyway. I read the manual on-line before purchase, and it is miss-leading. The manual states that you can turn on and turn off the display of the clock. This is not true. When turned on, the clock will display ONLY for about 3 to 5 minutes, after cooking ends, or after the last key is pressed. Then, the entire display shuts off. Most people would want the clock to stay on to use the microwave as a clock, as many units do. This one does not. A very stupid design. How much power can a LCD clock use anyway; maybe a nickel a year, or whatever. Simply dumb!! All the other features of this microwave are great, and it works well doing what it is supposed to do...cook food. It is very powerful, and if you are replacing an older 1000 Watt model, you'll have to adjust your thinking on cooking times, or lower the power setting to 60 to 80 percent to keep from over-cooking foods that used to cook just right with your older microwave model.
