Works well and looks nice. Great recipes--pineapple basil gelato was a sophisticated taste experience. Electric motor was not too loud. You can use electric motor or hand crank! Good results with both--finish off batch with manual power.

I am impressed with the overall churn. The pine wood construction was solid and looked great. I had purchased an open box item at a considerable savings from the seller. I expected a few blemishes. All in all, the churn seems to turn easily with the strong motor and the hand crank is a nice feature as is the ice tamping device. So far, it seems like a nice product and the seller got it to SC from California in just a couple of days.

I recently purchased the MaxiMatic EIM-506 Elite Gourmet 6 quart Ice Cream Maker. It is beautiful and well made. I unpacked it and proceeded to make 12 gallons of ice cream for an upcoming party. I made Cherry Chocolate Chip, Mint Chocolate Chip, Vanilla, Strawberry, and Rocky Road, all from the manuals recipe booklet. They turned out absolutely great and the ice cream maker functions flawlessly and efficiently. It is also very fast in the electric churning mode, on the average the ice cream was ready in 30-40 minutes per gallon. Clean up was a snap with rinsing the stainless parts and the wooden bucket with clean water. When I was through I washed it with hot soapy water and dried the hardware and took a clean rag and used WD-40 on the rag to wipe all the metal parts down after they were dry. I then stored it back in the cardboard carton that it came in and put it in my storeroom ready for the next fun gathering and social ice cream event !!Read full review

poor quality with plastic gear parts. No sure of the life of the plastic parts. First batch of ice cream didn't freeze completely. Had to let sit longer in order to freeze enough to scoop out and eat. Also, when the ice cream gets hard on bottom it pushes up the mixer and stops the motor early.

Motor stops running after about 5 minutes. You have to wait about 30 minutes to start it again. If you open the container after the 5 minutes, there is some sign of freezing around the outside but the center is still liquid. To get the ice cream to a semi frozen state takes about 3 hours.
