"Long term food storage necessity"
These oxygen absorbers appeared to work as intended based on package shrinkage after 12 to 24 hours as but after buying these absorbers alone with the intent of using them with Foodsaver brand heat seal bags, I would recommend purchasing them in a package with Mylar bags. It is definitely more cost effective.
