doesn't connect to computer
it works fine, but will not connect to my computer (windows 7). i bought a brand new pc cable for it,but it just makes a gree line 3 times, then goes blank. i charged it up prior, and battery says 100 per cent. i guess i'll have to do without spftware and map updates, but for the price, its still a good dealVerified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Only thing I can say negative about the 50LM is its size. When my shipper lost my previous 50 I bought a 60,,,what a mistake, I could never get the 60 to work. The 50LM is a world more simple to operate, more intuitive in its operation with few quirks necessary to remember. When I found a dealer offering a new, in the box 50LM I jumped on it even though Garmin no longer supports the 50. It is so easy to operate I'll never need Garmin's support! I haven't got it mounted to my satisfaction yet but that will be a simple operation.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Best GPS in the market,
Nowadays, you may use your cellphone for GPS, I know, it is very good, but make sure you cellphone get signal with 4G data speed. When you leave the city, there a lot of area without signal coverage. Your cellphone is garbage. Needs better battery life
The GPS works and I like its compact styling. The downfall of yhis particular GPS is model is with the battery. The battery seems to be rinning even when the unit is turned off. Imagine my surprise when I tyrned on a previously fully charged unit and it's at 75%! Too, after recharging the unit I discovered the battery life is less than 2hrs. Had to add memory and update maps!!
This model has free updates so there is no charge to do an update from Garmin. It is necessary to add a memory SIM available at Best Buy for around 12.00 for 16 gigs. I believe you only need 8 gigs for all of North America but you get the 16 gigs are the cheapest available for some reason. FYI Most other models require purchasing the updated maps but not this model. I have 3 of these now for each of my cars and truck. good deal, has one quirk. other than that works well.
good deal. does seem to have an issue coming out of sleep. when you press the power button because you won't need it for parts of the trip and then press the power button to bring it back up the screen stays dark, but it will still be giving you turn directions audibly. so i have to finagle with it, pull the power cord, to restart it completely and go to recent addresses.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Great easy to use
This is a nice entry level GPS for the average user. Great for the price, and the slightly bigger screen than the 40LM makes it way easier to read for us aging people.
