This 6 mil, clear coated urethane film that measures 0.4 inches by 40 yards features pressure-sensitive adhesive on the back for the ultimate protection. 3M 4 door Edge Guard comes up short
Well, it ACTUALLY comes up "narrow". This is made by 3M using their high grade paint protecting self adhesive film. It's a wonderful product......2 of our 3 cars have the whole front ends covered, and we love it! But these door edge guard strips are only 1/4 inch wide.....barely enough to give the door edge substantial protection. I was forced to over-lap 2 on each door....using ALL 4 - overlapping them to get enough protection coverage.. Thank goodness there were 4 strips total. These things need to be AT LEAST 1/2 inch wide to allow for "back-side overlap". AND.......for $10.?! Not again.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

it wasnt wide enough nor thick as it should be to protect against anything really. First look can be deceiving
When I first got the strips, I was disappointed how thin the strips were. But after fairly easy installation, I am pleased with the items. Unlike the "C" type door edge protectors, these have a low profile, adhere to the surface well, and (so far) have NOT turned yellow. They are not as thick as the other type, more like thick clear electrical tape, but still thick enough to provide some padding. Easy to appy
I bought this edge film because my garage is tight and wanted to keep the paint from wearing off when I open it against my wife's car. It realy works well without standing out and looking like those plastic edge guards. It's a plastic film so you still have to try not to bump doors too hard. I was shocked how easy it is to install and how good it looks. I do note that there was ore than enough for the front doers but my rear doors curve a lot and this size was short by 5" or so.
