I've used the Boss FS-5U momentary pedals for decades. They have switchable polarity, which can be very handy for mating them with off brand components. I like to utilize them in place of the flimsy Lexicon footswitches that are usually supplied with some of Lexicon's rack units, like the PCM 90 or the Jam-Man. These pedals are rugged, well built and will withstand plenty of concert stage or studio use with ease. They enable the musician to have hands free use of whatever effect processor they are connected to, making them ideal for guitarists....etc. The FS-5U pedal is designed with a bayonet style mounting slot on the sides: one male, one female, per pedal so the user can connect them for a tidy interconnected pedal platform when using multiple FS-5U pedals.

These foot switches, whether the non-latching type (FS-5U) or latching type (FS-5L), are made well and last forever. I’ve had both, for many years, and they’ve never let me down. They never miss and never have trouble. A really nice feature, is that they lock together, making them more stable. With that being said, I’m glad to have gotten a deal on some used ones, because NEW ones are outrageously priced. For the cost of a decent effects pedal, you’re simply getting a foot switch. For the price that Boss charges, they should at least come with a 10’ cable, like every other foot switch. I suppose that I could find cheaper ones, but I already have six of them on my pedal board and I don’t want to start trying something different. For what they do, how well they’re made and how reliable they are, I will keep buying them. Hopefully, when I can find used ones. If not, I’ll bite the bullet and keep buying new ones. When playing live, failure is NOT an option!Read full review

This is momentary contact switch and you can find similar switches elsewhere for less money but they probably wouldn't have the polarity switch. This switch may be a plus depending on how you intend to use the switch, which has two different functions depending on how you have it set. I needed it to turn stop my looper device, which only requires the momentary on function. Reversing the switch would allow me to clear what's in the looper memory, which isn't necessary for me at this time. The switch is built like a tank and probably worth the money but I dinged it one notch because of the price for what it does. All in all, it's a very good, sturdy switch.

It collectively make's it much easier on the artist from bending over and turning this knob, then turning it back again. Mainly the unit (FS-5U) was purchased for my Boss (DD-7) Digital delay & (PH-3) Phase shifter. It really does work wonder's, In a way it's like I've bought two brand new pedal's! Too pick-up the pace & then slow it down in almost a instant is real too much for the Phase Shifter, and as for the (echo) bouncing is to great in the Digital Delayyyyyy! The hook-up is no problem, and no "batteries", no problem's worrying about the proper adapter because thier is none ! To me it's like now in the real sense now my pedal's are truely foot pedal's !!!!!
Boss is Best! Pedal saves time and is an integral part of the RC-3 Boss looper remote memory hands off memory bank changer. Great if using for one man shows or just save time choosing appropriate back-up riffs and music.
