EHX Silencer
Good value. Does exactly what it is supposed to. I have 27 S. Duncan & EHX pedals in my chain & because of all the overdrive & distortion pedals I have a lot of hiss as u can imagine. The Silencer does quiet down my chain quite a bit. I'd say 75 % of the unwanted noise is gone COMPLETELY. I would of been happy with 50% to be honest. So if u just have 8 or 10 pedals in your mix ...u should be okay for the most part. I payed around 45.00 $ & it was worth every cent. The effects loop is perty sweet as well. I recommend this pedal. Works well, but has quirks and can be frustrating
I cant twll if mine is defective or if its just flawed in its design. I have to basically recalibrate it anytime I use a different tone. Set it for distortion and it will kill your clean sound. Set it for a modulation or pitch effect or fuzz and it doesnt work on distortion. Also it wont work at all until you turn it off and back on again. Its confusing, tedious and frustrating. Its saving grace is that when it does work, it works very well. Its because of its checkered performance that I coyldnt in good conscience recommend it to anyone.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Disclaimer: I really don’t use it as a noise gate. But it should work just as well as a boss ns-2 for noise. If not slightly better. And I’m a huge Boss believer. I use it more as a simple gate. The only thing better I’ve tried is the Zvex loop gate but I’m not a huge fan of their layout. I like a gate where you can fine tune it to your pick attack. This gem delivers. Ehx makes some really good products.
I was having a tough time deciding which noise gate to get for my second pedal board. When I saw the price of this and all the high reviews I thought it was worth a try. It is an incredible noise gate especially considering how cheap it is. I am considering buyjng a second ine to replace the boss ns2 on my main board. An end to the annoying single coil hum.
I have never liked the hum of single coil pickups, or the additional noise that come with many compression and distortion pedals. The Electro-Harmonix Silencer cleans things right up. Silencer Noise Gate
I play a strat and a les paul through a fender blues jr. My overdrve and distortion pedals were just insanely noisy when you turn up the gain on either of them past 2 or 3. My wah pedal too. Installed this pedal [silencer] after the wah, comp. and drive pedals, and before my chorus, delay and looper and was amazed at how well this pedal did what it was supposed to do. I never write reviews, but if you are having issues like i had, I highly recommend this pedal...it really does the job and you just can't beat the price. Great pedal....
