Like many before me, I find the AT95E's performance to be exceptional for its price. A friend needed a Pioneer PL-518 set up at a reasonable price. Since I had read a fair amount about this cartridge and I thought this was an excellent chance to try this cartridge. The result -- I wish I had tried this cartridge years earlier. The AT95E sound stage is smacks you upside the head and gives you that 'I'm there' experience. The complete sonic range is present with highs that are crisp and clean, mid-range frequencies that are balanced and tight, and bass notes that are nicely experienced without booming or overpowering other parts of the music. I readily recommend this cartridge to others, but would also mention that it must be set up properly on your table, the table must be level and it must be isolated from the vibration generated by other components in your stereo system. For the price it stands alone.Read full review

It is pretty much understood that this cartridge is the best you can get for this price. Of course there are better cartridges, but you have to consider the rest of your system too. If you have a mid-range system at best, spending $100 on a cartridge instead of $45 probably won't make much of a sound improvement. But every cartridge is unique. This one does have excellent low end which I really appreciate and it seems to mask pops and ticks pretty well since the focus of the cartridge seems to be more on the mids and lows than highs. But the highs are plenty for me too. I have an Ortofon 2M Red on my Pro-ject Debut III and of course it sounds amazing, but the AT95E is perfect for a few other turntables I have set up with lower level systems. For example, I have an AT95E on a Philips 312 with a Dynaco solid state amp and it sounds fantastic. Bottom line, it's an inexpensive cartridge that sounds great. I would suggest it to anyone starting out in the wonderful world of vinyl. If you buy a used turntable, replace the needle (and probably the cartridge...often times not much more for both) immediately so you don't mess up your precious vinyl. A bad needle can ruin records. And don't be afraid of used turntables. Many work better than new ones with just a new belt (on belt drives of course). And changing the cartridge is not that hard...just tiny work that requires a tiny screw driver and needle nose pliers. Always remove the headshell to make it easier and remove needle or leave covered so you don't mess it up during installation.Read full review

i purchased this cartridge from necessity and price. The sound quality Blew my Mind!!! The midrange and vocals really stood out . I have had several cartridges and needles but for the price this was by far the best sounding quality and clarity of all the others. It is a great product with great sound and rivals more expensive cartridge needle combo's , if you are on a budget(like me) and want good quality sound with amazing clarity this does the job!!!

Made a nicer than stock replacement on our brother’s Music Hall USB-1 Turntable. It punches way above its weight with a decent phono stage. If $$ is tight and you can set up your own head shell, this one should be on your short list. Tight and punchy sound but not overly so with a surprising amount of detail is a hallmark trait of this arm/cartridge combo on the Music Hall table. The elliptical stylus will extract way more out of your records than the stock conical one. Carefully set up will reward your patience.
