This thing is awesome. It does everything typical fender amps do from twang to super clean, but surprisingly, the 2000 Metal setting does super high gain metal of any flavor extremely well. You can really feel the tube warmth through the all the different amp models. It's loud for 15 watts, but I haven't tried it in a band setting yet. It ONLY accepts an 8ohm output, so keep that in mind. You will need an 8 ohm speaker cab. I'm about 99.9% certain that if you ran this little monster through 4X12s it would be plenty for even the most obnoxiously loud band. It does NOT come with a footswitch but you can purchase that separately for about 20 bucks. Big sound in a small package. Fits nicely on top of any 1X12 cab.

A FABULOUS FENDER TUBE AMP! Extremely versatile in a small easily transportable package. I have played it through a Celestion 15 cab, Celestion 12" and a two 12" cab (Celestion/Fender speakers) and it sounds incredible with any guitar choice once dialed in. Also very loud if required. Every sound you could require is available with effects on par with Fenders best in my view. GET ONE of the beauties while they are still available and you'll be amazed!

Fabulous amp for the money. Real tube sound - plus variety of amp models and effects. Plenty of power for my purpose (practice amp at home). Though I don't use it, the Fender Fuse software ads "infinite" number of additional settings and effects. Compared to other "modeling" amps, I think there is a kind of simplicity to the SCX2 that makes if very appealing to players like me who simply want to play around with a variety of songs and sounds without getting lost in the electronics. Great amp coupled with the great price I paid on eBay made this a no-brainer purchase.
Great head at this price point. Even though its only 15 watts its loud in the house. Great Fender cleans, The distorted settings are okay once you dial them in, and get the footswitch. I think the matching 12" speaker is grossly overpriced for what it is. Pick yourself up a good used 2 x12 cab for the same price.

Professional musician of over 50 years with very good memory and experiences with early-mid 1960's Fender tube amps as a reference. While I always enjoyed the power and "bark" of the larger 4X10 combo's like the Super Reverb, or the massive bottom "thump" from the Twin Reverb's 15" JBL driver with aluminum dust cap, my standard of reference then, as it is now, for a clean machine and signature Fender sound remains the Deluxe Reverb. Today, other than a straight combo reissue, there are two amps in the current line which more than come close: The Super Sonic 22, and this Super Champ XD. Both achieve their signature sound via a pair of 6V6's, with the Super Champ being cathode biased and using a solid state rectifier in place of the traditional GZ34 tube. With a good matched "hard" set of Tung Sol 6V6's, and a selected and balanced 12AX7, the Super Champ will provide that signature clean sound of the greatest 60's amps, and also provide some extremely useful and quality effects patches and combinations. My first concern was the 15W nominal rating, which with my set up actually is running at 11W a side, so it is right down the rating line of the original Deluxe Reverb. This "little monster" pushes these fabulous tones through a custom 2X12 Deville cabinet loaded with a pair of Celestion Vintage 30's, which I purchased long before they transfered production out of England. Sound pressure levels are more than gig worthy in the average club or bar, or small theatre style venue. While the spring reverb patch is excellent quality, you will also find useful the patch with a hall reverb and digital delay, which I adjust for slapback, as well as the tremolo and vibrato loops. If you want to use these modulation effects, in addition to a good reverb, you will need an external pedal, and there is no effects loop. Like the old days, everything goes in a straight line through the instrument input jack; just be sure you check the pedals in your chain individually for ambient and switching noise, because your preamp tone stack controls are going to significantly amplify everything going on in your pedals. My choices include a ModTone Coliseum Reverb, an MXR Silicon Fuzz, and an EH Soul Preacher compressor/sustainer. These, in addition to the effects on board the Super Champ, cover all the necessary bases, especially with cover songs from the 60's on up to the early 80's. With the standard two button Fender footswitch, you can change channels, even with voicing between two different Fender clean channels of the past, or a modern higher gain channel from a Marshall, and turn your on board effects on and off as needed with your front end pedals. This amp is a sleeper, the tone is amazing, and you will not regret one cent of this purchase. Unless you need stadium or large outdoor venue volume capabilities, this is a working guitarist's dream come true and an incredible value!Read full review

I use this head to push a Laney 212 cabinet. The tone of the clean channel is classic Fender. Rolling thru each of the “voices” is fun. I find myself tending to stay on the “70s British” setting for overdrive when I just plug and play at home and don’t feel like using a pedal board. The footswitch does it’s job there. If I’m running a pedal board (OD, reverb, delay, phaser) I tend to use the jazz master setting for clean, then work the board; but, that’s my own personal preference. In all honesty, the value for this amp is amazing. You get great fender tone, more than enough volume (I can’t get it above 5-6 without killing my ears). I would feel comfortable gigging with this in any setting. Throw a mic in front of it, and I’m confident you could play larger venues with even an average sound guy. Very happy with the purchase. Highly recommended.Read full review

An easy to use feature filled amp. Channel one is classic low wattage Fender and the second modeling channel has some great sounds. Perfect for practice, small gigs and recording.

Fender quality in a low dollar high value amp . All tube amp with Fender quality reverb and effects . I use mainly the reverb and a ore amp pedal on the clean channel for a 5150 sound . Super clean if you want it to be . Presets are usable as well . No effects loop. But I do t need one with this little wonder .

This is my third Super Champ X2, and will be my backup for playing out. I run a pair of these at a time, one as a combo, the other feeding a 2x12 cabinet. The sonic variations possible are amazing, from barking blues to the most ethereal pop you can imagine these amps will power you there. One of the best kept secrets in Fenders Amp arsenal. The trick is the digital front end models the target amps very effectively, THEN the all tube power section gives the warmth and overtone you expect from an old amp. This use of tubes as the power section really smooths out the digital harshness that solid state amps are known to have. So all together my two heads and one combo have cost me less then a vintage Bassman or Champ would have cost AND they give me so much more than either is possible of. The one warning....plan to spend a lot of time playing with tone possibilities, I have found hours have gone by while I sit and play with possibilities. The upside is I am playing even longer the usual.Read full review
