Versatile Overdrive!
Aside from the high 300mA current draw which forces you to use an external PSU this pedal is great! It has a wet/dry mix to really dial in the sound. The output section buffers well for a digital pedal with little noise. Some analog purists may not like the sound by simply saying its digital A/D/A but its highly respectable for the price. I find that I use it for a slight overdrive with a 60/40 blend. it can do an all out digital fuzz sound which is fun, but not very practical for live/studio use. The tone knob allows for a brighter sound when you turn clockwise. doing this then turning down the treble on the amp and boosting the mids really brings out the overdrive growl that I prefer.
At some point digitech lightened up the weight of the X-series pedal before they discontinued it. The older stock was physically heavier, and 9 volt clip was the flexible kind that tended to wear out often. The newer versions are lighter and have a more rugged hard plastic 9 volt clip. i got the heavier version but no complaints there, I can stomp on either (I have other x series with lighter cases) to my hearts content. its solid aluminum protecting the PCB inside.
Hope this helps others. Grab one of these and if deployed properly you wont be disappointed.
