We have had several of these in the 30 years we have lived in our house. They really work. I have two Brittany Spaniels that are the smartest dogs I have ever had. They know when the batteries are low on their collars and have "ESCAPED" from the yard then. but only a couple of times. I strongly suggest that you upgrade the wire to a heavy duty wire which you can get. The reason I say this is that we have deer and they would step on the wire and their hooves would make a cut in the wire. We haven't had that issue once we replaced the wire with the heavy duty wire. I also suggest a having a backup system on hand in case your currents one gets by lightning or is subjected to a strong power surge. You can also get the surge and lightning protectors. This is the only thing that has kept him in & still allow him to run & chase things a border collie needs each day. He is still a runner at 11.
