These Sennheiser headphones are replacing my 12 year old pair. I felt a need to upgrade and chose these because I liked my old headphones so much. These are even better for listening to any music source: CD's, Records or FM broadcasts. I listen a lot and these headphones deliver a high quality sound ...open soundstage and not too much bass. The are always comfortable no matter how long I listen. I got these at a great price on E-Bay and am totally happy with them. I've always liked this brand and am also currently using Sennheiser microphones on my once weekly progressive rock radio show on the local NPR station in my city. I would recommend these headphones to any casual or serious listener.

Another excellent product from Sennheiser. This model is just under the 598 but you wouldn't know it from the performance. Purchased it used so got a remarkable H.P. at very reasonable cost. Reproduces all the notes without exaggeration. Balanced sound with reasonable amount of bass. If you want performance without spending a lot, this is the model to consider. Very good reviews around the internet.

Indeed it is true! These sound great when paired with an amp or just used with a phone! The open-ear design allows for a more engaging music experience (like being at a concert) and the highs and lows have no distortion. They are lightweight and the velour pads make them extremely comfortable to wear for an extended period of time. This is a home run for any audiophile on a budget.

Old headphone guy with "obsessive" headphone collecting tendencies. I picked up a set of these "used" for $100 on E-bay. They rival my AKG 701's , Beyerdynamic DT 880's,and Sony MDR V6. I noticed these received an "Editors choice" in PC Magazine. What can I say ? I have a 31 band equalizer I bought just for headphones. Like other top end headphones, the Senn's refuse to be pushed off center. They sound wonderful ! Best bargain to "come down the headphone pike" in years. Look at the "build a graph" EQ charts at Headroom.com Empirical evidence supports all the many subjective "happy" reviews also.
These headphones sound great. If you want great sound without all the frills, these are for you. I like the fact that the phones come with the 1/4" connector. The 1/8" adapter works fine but it adds a lot of weight to the connector and I didn't like the pressure the plug + adapter put on my Lenovo Tablet. But it is truly great on my Yamaha CA-810 with !/4" plug-in.
