This 23mm lens from Fuji truly is amazing. Offering a classic 35mm equivalent field of view with a bright F/1.4 maximum aperture, the 23mm makes for a great all-purpose and all-lighting situation lens. This lens can do everything from landscapes to portraits to street/documentary, all while providing fast autofocus, exceptional image quality, and great build quality. For a film shooter like myself, the manual focus ring with hard stops on each end is much appreciated. It allows me to quickly switch between auto- and manual focus, use zone focusing for street photography, as well as quickly and accurately focus using focus peaking at night when the autofocus would normally have trouble. Overall, one of Fuji's greatest lenses for the X-Series.

A little lighter and less resistant aperture/focus rings than I thought it would be. Also a little noisier. But wow this thing produces some fantastic images. Great color, especially when paired with some fuji profiles. Subject separation and bokeh are very pleasing, and the autofocus is extremely reliable. Also it looks and feels great to use and I appreciate Fuji’s inclusion of a focus clutch and aperture ring.

Owned the 23 f2 and the 1.4 version suits me so much more. It’s sharp but not clinical, it has character, and the manual focus clutch is one of my favorite features. Spectacular in low light.

I bought this lens a month ago thinking that it would stay in the back of the bag until a low-light occasion would create a need for it. That it would be small and light. Wrong on both counts. It is a prime lens that you keep mounted on-camera and adapt your medium-wide style to it, finding that it balances nicely on bodies ranging up to the heftier end of the Fujifilm x- line. It is an excellent replacement for the 35mm f1.4s that we once lugged around on our DSLRs. A Leica M 35/f2 it is not, but Fuji doesn't make that. You get just this one and it does much more while being sharp, quiet, and relatively unobtrusive. You get instant visual control of the aperture (not available with a zoom) and the different styles and bokeh which that brings. You get an image with more life and accurate color, emulating Leica rather than the brittleness of Zeiss or Schneider, Those who have worked with Fuji's classic Large Format view camera lenses of the past will recgnise this.Read full review

I purchased this after lot of consideration to its F2 brethren and decided to go in for the higher spec F1.4. Wide angle large aperture is new for me and I am amazed at the effects of large aperture. Its fantastic for street and B&W. Highly recommended.
