For 1986's LIVE ALIVE, three albums into his career, Vaughan added pianist Reese Wynans to the Double Trouble duo of Tommy Shannon and Chris Layton, fleshing out an already-potent sound. Originals like "Change It" and "Say What" find Wynan's rollicking playing gilding Vaughan's unusually funky playing, while Wynans and Vaughan play off one another in percolating covers of material by Stevie Wonder ("Superstition") and Hank Ballard ("Look At Little Sister").

NotesLimited double 180 gm audiophile vinyl LP pressing in gatefold sleeve. Live Alive [1986] is an essential blues album compiled from four live performances by Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble. The performances were recorded at the Montreux Jazz Festival, the Austin Opera House and at Dallas Starkest, along with some studio overdubs. The song selection for Live Alive displays many of Stevie Ray Vaughan's biggest influences: Jimi Hendrix ('Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)'), Stevie Wonder ('Superstition'), Howlin' Wolf ('Commit A Crime') and Buddy Guy ('Mary Had a Little Lamb')
Warped vinyl; KNOWINGLY sold as new.. even at 1/16" it is not right to charge any $ for, and the quality of the recording varys greatly on this LP, some tracks sound like my drunken aunt took my 4 track tape recorder to this venue, and only used 3 mics set up at a distance, for the mix, SRV's guitar playing is NOT the highlight, but the bass/drum and keyboard tracks are most prominent, I will try this LP again with a different cartridge and edit/update accordingly this next week.
