Washington Blues Society 2012 'Best Of the Blues' awards for Best Recording and Best Songwriter. Brian Lee & the Orbiters are based in Seattle, Washington, USA, and are one of the premier bands on the Northwest blues scene. Brian fronts the band with melodic vocals and superb guitar, slide guitar, and blues harmonica. The 'Orbiters' name evokes the concept of the band-- a 'broad orbit through the blues universe'. Their latest album "Identity Theft" features 11 original songs composed by Brian which express the broad stylistic and thematic range of Brian and band. Brian's blues influences from an early age include Elmore James, T-Bone Walker, Big and Little Walter, Johnny Watson, Guitar Slim, Peter Green, Alan Wilson. Later influences include Jr. Watson, Jimmy Vaughan, Rick Estrin, and Gary Smith.  Brian has lead the Orbiters to a prominent position in the Northwest blues scene based on their engaging and energetic delivery, top-flight musicianship, and great repertoire of original tunes and gems from the blues tradition. In addition to Brian's vocals, guitar, slide guitar, and harmonica work, Orbiters performing on "Identity Theft" tracks include some of the finest players in the Northwest: Guitar:  Steve Yonck and Tim Sherman contribute to the Orbiters sound with their superb guitar work on respective tracks. Steve and Tim are deeply versed in the blues tradition, and are exceptional, highly regarded players. Their styles are distinctive, and together with Brian's guitar work they create a great range in the sound of the album. Drums: Russ Kammerer and Conrad Ormsby really drive the groove with energy, finesse, and swing. Their excellent playing brings incredible versatility, Polish, and energy to the Identity Theft album. Bass: Hank Yanda is an amazing player who also has been on the scene for many years, and his experience really shows. He is a truly remarkable musician who really understand the blues. Guy Quintino is also featured on one track, playing Upright Bass. Guy knows traditional blues, and he is a really superb player. Brian Lee & the Orbiters 'Identity Theft' delivers stellar original tunes of modern times and timeless blues themes in a broad orbit centered on traditional blues styles!
