If you like the energy and the passion that Sir. Robert Plant has given to his music and stage performances over the past 4+ decades then your a true fan of the man and will enjoy this music. Don't think "Zeppelin man" or you may just be a tad bit disappointed, I say that only to warn you and certainly not to scare you. I am sure that you are all aware of his songwriting abilities and the past work dabbling in folk infused country sounding music on his last outing with the lovely and talented Alison Krauss. This "out of the box" direction that Robert has taken over the last few years has been very refreshing because it shows what a true musical genius he really is. In my opinion it is one thing to create great rock n roll tunes that stand the test of time, it is quite another to revive and breathe new life into old blues & traditional folk songs after all this time. (after all Page & Plant were heavily influenced by Blues music in the early years of Zeppelin so he's had this ability for quite a while now) What he was able to do on this recording was to recreate and renew some old classic masters sounds, while at the same time making them his own. On this latest effort that is exactly what he has done, and let me tell you he has done it well. This is very enjoyable music to listen to, and I am very sure that a wide range of fans would love the songs if they just give it a chance and give it a listen. Check it out...I'm sure that if your a classic rock fan who enjoys blues music too, your gonna love it. The songs are so hard to describe, each one is really different ranging from an early 60's rock feel, to blues, to folk, to an almost country tinge. Mixed genre media like this is (again in my opinion) the sign of a true genius and reflects the wisdom that comes from all of the years of his experience making great music. 5 easy stars in my book! Get it and see what you think, hopefully you will agree that its a real winner.Read full review
I admire Robert Plant for his wide-ranging influences and continual growth as an artist. The musicians surrounding him in Band of Joy are all excellent artists. This is another worthwhile and entertaining effort by the veteran singer who has kept things interesting throughout his career. He has managed to keep growing on his own terms as an artist, without getting trapped in amber as the Led Zep icon.

Very nice CD of music. I had never seen this side of Robert Plant and I like both sides of him. The easy sound is very different from his Led Zepplin years and very easy to listen to.
CD- Features Robert Plant, after Led Zepplin disbanded. If you like Led, it’s worth a listen. Enjoy.

This CD was a Classic before it hit the stores. Plant shows that he can still move in a different direction, and make it perfect. His voice is outstanding on this CD. For only the second time I can remember, Plant sings with added help from background vocals. Patty Griffin adds her magic and blends together to make perfection. Let's hope to hear more from "BAND of Joy".
Great lp with Robert and the Band of Joy
