I bought this to add to my Charlize Theron collection. Sadly she has a very small role in this movie but that aside this is a very very good movie. This is pre- Sigourney Weaver Alien. Excellent story, excellent acting, and a very good ending that leaves room for a sequel for this movie, which I hope they make. Well worth the time and money!

Ridley Scott while an amazing director missed the mark on this. Originally intended as a prequel to Alien he later changed it to a separate movie and now wishes he had stuck to the Alien franchise. He made mention that the sequel to this will go back to the Alien Franchise.

***MINIMAL SPOILERS*** The movie starts out as a Interplanetary expedition to check out a possible life form via signals received somewhere somehow. Once on a planet with "promise", the scientists prove that scientists should be doing science, not commanding, and the top three Officers, Meridith Vickers( Charleze Theron), Janek(Idris Elba), and Peter Weyland's ( Guy Pierce) collective incompetence COULD doom them all. Micheal Fassbender as the android "David" has a different agenda then the rest of the crew, and is bent to the goal of getting the information about the Secret that the others simply are unaware of. Noomi Rapace as Elizabeth Shaw emerges as a rising star of action, and seems to have the most obstacles to overcome. The visuals are great, Director Ridley Scott proves why he is one of the Best Directors out there. This movie was Nominated for the Oscar for Best Special Effects.Read full review
Prometheus had the potential to be a landmark science fiction movie such as Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey. Certainly, one would have high expectations when it was Ridley Scott himself that directed the original Alien (of which this movie is premised upon) 31 years ago. Instead, Prometheus is predictable, even moronic, at key points throughout the movie, forcing the viewer to suspend any hope this movie would be worth viewing. Scott attempted to carry this movie on special effects, much like George Lucas with his bastardization of Star Wars with useless CGI scenes that are not key to the plot. I would compare Anakin Skywalker's pod race to Elizabeth Shaw's cesarean of her alien host. I could go on about how idiotic it would be to remove your space helmet in an "alien" environment, to performing an "alien" autopsy type experiment in an open air environment on a trillion dollar spacehip. Charlize Theron manages to become more robotic than her android counterpart played by Michael Fassbender. I can only hope that was the character she was attempting to portray. Ridley Scott, at 75 years, doesn't seem to understand that senility isn't a type of creativity when your partners/producers allow you free reign to spend $150 million.Read full review
This is one of the best movies of this type I have ever seen! Great acting, special effects etc.! Love the story line! I do not understand why they had to throw the part where the white, blonde female has sex with the black dude! You see this CRAP on commercials as well! I guess that is to play up to the need for the black male hormone to feel superior! Now there are a lot of people who will say I am racist, no I am not. Why does it 90% of the time show black man white, blonde, female going goo goo for the black man? Watch your commercials with an open mind and you will see what I am talking about! Oh and be careful not to upset the people of color!
