This is an excellent sub when matched with a pair of bookshelf speakers or typical surround speakers. It has a natural warm sound with nice tight bass even at higher volumes. Good build quality quick and responsive amplifier. This isn't gonna shake the house and unless you live in an apartment with thin walls it will probably met with approval by your neighbors. Placement is fairly easy I tried it in several locations around a medium sized room (12x15) and it never sounded boomy like some of the cheaper subs I've tried. My only advice is try to keep it away from corners by at least a couple feet and it sounds much better if you angle it towards the center of the room so the bass port isn't pointed at a wall. If your looking for decent low end for a bookshelf system or to upgrade your weak stock sub this is perfect but with towers like I have as mains this sub tends to get lost at distance.Read full review
I'm a Polk Audio fan. Except for a couple of pairs of old Radio Shack Minimus 7s & a Yamaha subwoofer, all of my speakers are Polks. I bought the PSW250 for use later on after I redo a spare room. Currently I have it set up in the living room HT setup just to test it. Parameters: LR size is 16x12x7, mains & surrounds are Polk RT15 (set to small), center is Polk CS245, receiver is a Yamaha RX-V467 (sub x-over set to 80Hz). This sub is not going to rattle the china or slowly disassemble your house. It is probably a little small for this room however, I bought it for use in a room that is 12x10. Right now it gives a decent bottom end to the system & I imagine in the final resting place it will be just fine. So far with music & movies it seems to be accurate & pleasing without booming. As with all subs (and other speakers for that matter) placement is everything. Compared to my Yamaha YST-SW215, the PSW250 reaches a little deeper. My testing is pretty much done & its bigger brother, a PSW350, will take its place. All-in-all, a decent sub for an 8" driver. I'm happy with the purchase.Read full review
I bought this sub for a 4-season room tv and besides the fact that it needs to be wired it is a great addition to the system. I paired it to a yamaha ATS-1010 soundbar and now I can feel the movies effects and pick up the dialogue that I lost thru the tv speakers. I don't know if I would recommend this for a large area but in a 20' X 20' or smaller room it would be fine. Would I buy it again, you bet!
Glad to have a second one

This subwoofer has amazing bass, I have it down rather low and it can shake the room. Sound remains clear and sharp.
