I've been using these for years on SRAM and Shimano chains. Works great. Never an issue. The Missing Link allows you to pop your chain off in two seconds. Easy no greazy. Carry a couple on tour along with a few extra links of your chain, and you're set. Consider this: KMC chain is what Park Tool uses on their chain whip/cassette disassembler. If KMC is good enough for Park Tools, it's good enough for the rest of us.

The key was to note that the link to removed and replace with this “MissingLink” must be the correct link...Remove the pins and the outer plates so the Missing Link goes into the narrower inner section. A second issue was that my tool to press out the pin created a burr so the MissingLink could not be pressed into place. A drill bit used to clean the burr quickly solved that problem.
