Captivating story into the untold submarine service and cold war.
I was in the Nuclear Navy during the Reagan era. It was the height of the cold war. There were a lot of activities and close calls that the general public never knew about. This book provides an excellent glimpse into Admiral Rickover's visionary creation of nuclear powered warships and why nuclear power is so much more beneficial than batteries or fossil fuels. The NR-1 submarine and it's extremely elite crew were clandestine and never spoken about; however, the role they played in national defense was vital. We should all be happy that one of the NR-1 crew put their story into this book for historical purposes. There will probably never be another book like this one regarding the NR-1.
