I bought a DVD disc/Digital Copy set that included the first 4 Resident Evil movies. After watching those I inevitably had to buy the 5th movies, this one. I knew the 6th (and final) movie wouldn't be released until 2017 but I had to keep going with the story. I am usually one to HATE cliffhangers, but this movie was well worth it. It gives you no qualms about the fact that it isn't the "end of the road." The main character is amazing as is all of her supporting characters. I'm glad I found that first set of 4 movies and gave them a chance.
Honestly, out of all the Resident Evil movies up till this one, Retribution is the worst hands down. It's just all over the place with a plot that makes no sense. Ripping monsters from the games again and just pulling all these ex-machinas out the ass. None of the characters act or behave anything like their video game roots. Sure these movies have always been bad, but wow, this movie. Buy this ONLY if you want a bad movie to watch and laugh at. For fans of the games, just don't take it seriously and you could probably still enjoy how bad it is.
This movie is an awesome directing this story into a very thrilling ending.
This is a great action movie, for those that like zombie movies, guns, video games, & the chill of good story telling. This is one of the best Resident Evil movies that I ever seen. Maybe because Leon S. Kennedy & Ada Wong appear on this one, as well as the comeback of Jill Valentine. In this movie, Alice is a kick ass of a killing zombie machine. It's the continuation of this movie franchise, it picks up the story were it last left it, aboard the Arcadia, where Alice finds Chris & Claire Redfield. For those that have played the games, you know exactly who am I talking about. It also brings back Albert Wesker, the main villain of the Umbrella Corporation. This story truly picks up the pace & it reunites old friends turned into foes & it also reunites old heroes with new ones, characters of the video games.
Umbrella Corporation's deadly T-Virus is spreading across the globe, transforming ordinary people into legions of zombies, Headed for extinction, the human race has just one hope: Alice. She's on a mission, fighting her way though cities & across continents, all inside Umbrella's prime research facility. Old friends become new enemies as the battle to escape & discover that everything that she believes may not even be true...As they stated, this is the beginning of the end...
I just hope that the last movie reunites everyone from the gang, all the video game heroes, Alice, Jill Valentine, Leon S. Kennedy, Ada Wong, Chris, & Claire Redfield. That would be awesome...Read full review
Milla Jovovich is the only reason this franchise continues
Resident Evil: Retribution is pretty brainless and has an implausible plot-line. You can expect any Paul W.S. Anderson film with zombies to play out like a video game.
One can find entertainment on different levels with this movie. For example, I spent most of my attention trying to figure out how Milla Jovovich can look so cute with bobbed hair. She can certainly rock her S&M outfit and feline figure. Her doe eyes and gorgeous face are easy to look at, so there's that too.
Easily, the most glaring hole in the thin plot-line is our rag-tag group of protagonists go into a secret Russian underground facility (which supposedly uses holographic projections). So my question is - Why shoot at holographic zombies instead of just blowing the damn place up? There's also a thinly veiled Aliens homage with Alice saving her cocooned daughter and then blowing up replicas of herself with a grenade satchel that is (unintentionally) comical.
I'll give the editors some credit (unlike Peter Jackson) ... Under 100 minutes for a fantasy film with an implausible plot-line shows some respect to the audience.Read full review
