The units that I bought had "No Batteries"...I expected that as it was given in the listing. However, they had no battery connecting cables either. It turns out that APC has gone to a "cartridge" that has the two batteries and the necessary cables. I did not understand this. However, the seller was helpful and I decided to just make up the needed cables. No problem!! The connectors are just simple 1/4" spade lugs. I have all the units charging now and they all seem to work just fine. So, you can purchase the APC cartridges or you can make your own cables, which you can use later on when and if you ever need new batteries.

This was a replacement for a ten year old APC battery backup that needed retirement. The battery will last about four years. Then after the second battery probably a new unit will be in order. This unit will be required for sure if we have to go to a generator during power outages. This has happened in the past. The well pump coming on causes a voltage drop and then the electronics glitch. Living in the country causes more frequent lightning strikes on the service lines. Many times it is simply voltage issues that causes electronics to die. The ACP Pro1000 is a reliable and well performing battery backup. I provides long term backup function for a moderate price. The LCD readout is useful. It provides everything you need to monitor the essential functions of the unit. We are using two units in Haiti to provide power to our internet modems during extended power outages. Although that is not what the units were designed for they are a God send. The unit gives us power to our modems for up to fourteen uninterrupted hours! I don't know what we would do without them.

The system is more advanced than just a UPS. The unit allows you to switch off the power to all peripherals drives etc. when the power draw from the main circuit drops below a set custom value. It took me just a few minutes to see when my CPU goes into sleep mode it drops from 170 watts to 27watts then it shuts down power to the extra drives and when it wakes up turns them back on. It does a lot more but that was the best feature for me.
