This Radio Saved My Hobby
After three years back into Radio, after spending thousands of dollars on radios and gear, I was about ready to get out, and take up stamp collection. I am in a very poor location for propagation, on the 44th Latitude, in the middle of the North American landmass and surrounded by the Earth's largest iron ore fields. Normally not a problem if the iron ore is below you, but it is a huge problem when you are down in a narrow canyon, which is bad enough, but then the iron ore is above you and blankets you like a rug in certain conditions.
I had tried many different radios, Yaesu, Kenwood, RCI base stations, even big amplifiers. Nothing worked. My last attempt was going to be to try a modern radio with modern technology and see if something with exception receive side design could overcome all the minuses of my location and bring in the signals.
Not only has the RCI 2970N2 done all that, but it also gets out pretty good to. I got nothing to complain about. :o)
