This base of this machine has been around for ten years.....YES, Apple should have upgraded it in a better way but, they are too big to know why. The laptop can be upgraded to 8gb easily but, the nicest upgrade - sporting almost a 3X speed upgrade - you can put almost ANY SSD drive into this on the cheap! I keep a dongle so that I can plug into a bigger screen and, I carry a Bluetooth mouse. I like the fact that the battery is NOT built into the top case so, again, something that I can change three years down the road.

Would not recommend this one, it has the problem with the video card graphics going out and causing spontaneous reboots. Too bad, it is fast and capable otherwise. But the unreliability of it crashing at random times makes it unusable.

The only reason I don't give this 5 stars is that Apple and retailers don't max out the RAM. With All the Macs I've had, every one needed the maximum amount of memory they will take. And with El Capitan OS it really needs 16 GB, period. That's one major reason I bought this; because I can upgrade the RAM. It's much more powerful than my old Macbook and fits the case I had for it.

Excellent computer, used to have a Macbook Air so be warned of my bias! Performance wise it rocks, incredible graphics, awesome response time, snazzy apps, no complaints here. Truly love it. DEFINITELY worth the 1300 I paid for it, very low price for the 1TB SSD and 16GB RAM. Compared to other computers I've had, PC's and Mac's its quite heavy, perhaps because of LCD screen. But again, Macbook Air person here :). The LCD screen is worth it. Now the only reason I gave it a 4, and it really deserves a 4.9 or 4.8, is battery-wise (this is a brand new computer 12 cycle count beginning day 1 and this is only day 7). I decided to test the battery, now according to Apple it should last at least 7 hours, running fully, surfing, browsing, editing, well I left the screen at lowest possible brightness closed all applications, and left it alone. 5 HOURS later it shut down, I could understand a few minute difference but not 2 WHOLE HOURS, the battery is fully functional I tested it repeatedly after this incident so as far as I'm concerned……...Apple lied. I hesitate to make such a statement but with no discernible explanation, I'd be lying not to. Now I don't have any statical analysis so I could be completely wrong here, but I used to work as a computer technician, and when I test something I TEST something so the chances of this battery being bad in any way are doubtful. But as always, there's a margin of error, so take what you will from this, sorry to blab your ear off with my dreary attitude and just remember this computer truly is awesome, love it, buy it, take care of it as you would a baby since it will give SO much back to you long-term. :) Bye, and hoped I helped your computer-buying decisions.Read full review
I bought this Macbook to be able to edit music videos weekly, I use Premiere Pro and most of the time it runs smoothly, however there are many times where it crashes or I get a frozen screen. I like the sleek aluminum design and the Hard Drive has plenty of space. The fact that it can't have a dedicated graphics card is what brings this down to 4 stars for me. All in all it is a good option for editing leisurely, its a good start, higher end editing would probably require the mac pro, iMac, any PC with a Xeon processor and the ability to add a graphics card.
I'll keep this short and sweet. I have owned at least 8 PC's over the years, none of them performed that well or even survived after 2 or 3 years use. But this 2012 Apple MacBook Pro 13" i7 Intel Processor 2.9 gHz to 3.6 gHz Turbo with 1 TB SSHD that I bought in USED, LIKE NEW CONDITION is the absolute best computer I have ever used. It's so fast that if you blink your eyes when you click the mouse to to respond to a program, it will be on your screen before you open your eyes. I have 3 MacBook Pro's and they are all fast, but this one is incredible! It would take me all day to explain why you should buy one of these, but I don't have that kind of time. The best I can tell you is...HAVE YOU BOUGHT ONE YET? IF NOT, WHY HAVEN'T YOU?

This is the last of the apple laptop 7 series: allows you to upgrade RAM on mother board yourself, + has super drive built in. Fast machine, best deal around, Highly recommend

The only reason this MacBook doesn't have 4 stars is because I had to replace the thunderbolt battery compartment. I believe that what it's called. I had to get it fixed shortly after I received it because yet never charged correctly. After replacing the battery, charger and resetting the SMC and PRAM/NVRAM. Once I find a store where I'm located abroad I had it serviced. Because of the language barrier I don't remember the actual technical term. However it works like a charm now. It's fast and efficient!

This is an excellent computer, rock solid performance, undeniable durability, features that rival current generation MacBook Pros, e.g., USB 3.0, Thunderbolt, 802.11(450Mbit), Bluetooth 4.0, Gigabit Ethernet... This is the last model to offer user upgradeable components, e.g., larger hard drive or SSD, RAM upgrade to 16GB, and a built in SD(SuperDrive). This is one of the best computers you can purchase, at a good price! The Retina Display is obviously one added benefit of the current generation of MacBook Pro's but with the much higher costs and inability of user upgradeable components, the Mid 2012 MacBook Pro is hard to beat.

This is my first Macbook Pro and first Apple product in general. I purchased this for attending school abroad and plan to use it while traveling. The product on eBay fit my budget and had some great features that I couldn't pass. I have only had it for a few hours, which may seem early to be leaving such a raving review, but honestly I can't find a physical or internal fault. Every function and application seems to work. For traveling this will be such a breeze to carry around. It's lightning fast compared to my windows computers and the screen resolution is just so pretty. It came with a lot of money saving features and overall I'm very happy. The seller was great at communicating and answering all my questions. I feel pretty confident with this Macbook and am excited to make it my own. Thanks!Read full review
